About The Author

Born in Devonshire, Jani developed a love of painting and drawing from the age of four. Later she studied art and history of art in England and also abroad, where Jani and her husband have spent much of their married life; more recently they moved to Cornwall. A mixture of watercolour, gouache and ink provides the perfect medium for her delicate and finely detailed style. Her subjects reflect facets of her experience, her infectious personality and quirky sense of humour, which combine easily with her skills as a meticulous observer of nature, her interest in disappearing rural customs and gentler ways of life.

Jani is an established designer with a large selection of nature and wildlife illustrations to her credit. Many of her commissions have been licensed worldwide to great acclaim.

The Manor House Stories were originally conceived and written almost thirty years ago while Jani was raising her own two children, Rory and Miranda, at their manor housein the Devonshire countryside.
